It gives me pleasure to write these words five years after the launch of Tamkeen Foundation for Training & Development — one of the Palestinian pillars in empowering youth across all fields. From the very beginning, our founding body, board of directors, supreme supervisory council, board of trustees, and executive council shared a deep belief in the role of active youth in nation-building. From this conviction, the idea of Tamkeen Foundation was born — to contribute to building and developing the skills and capabilities of Palestinian youth, especially graduates, within a complex Palestinian reality that requires the integration of all efforts.

The Foundation's centers form a practical model for prioritization and the distribution of achievements: Tamkeen Center for Training & Development — accredited as a private educational institution by the Ministry of Education; Tamkeen Center for Vocational Training — accredited by the Ministry of Labor; Tamkeen Center for Studies & Public Opinion — accredited by the Ministry of Information; and Tamkeen Services & Consulting Company — accredited by the Ministry of Economy. Together they ensure outputs that match graduates' qualifications, align with reality, and meet the needs of local and international labor markets.

Over the past five years the Foundation has registered clear achievements despite difficulties and obstacles: it has delivered more than 660 training courses across multiple fields, graduated 3,266 trainees71% of whom secured employment, awarded 1,243 training scholarships to varied youth segments, and implemented 23 projects on issues related to youth, women, children, and scientific research.

The Foundation also organized the largest conference for empowering Palestinian youth (August 2023), and built cooperation agreements with prestigious institutions both locally and internationally — signing 36 agreements. It has attracted 211 local and international trainers, and is staffed by 35 permanent employees and volunteers alongside 43 part-time volunteers.

From day one, the founding body insisted that Tamkeen would represent a unique model in two directions: First, that the Foundation could cover its expenses through its own revenues without dependence on external funding — and it has succeeded. Second, freedom from any partisan affiliation and a focus on serving youth far from political tensions — and our experience has proven that service institutions can be insulated from political conflict.

God willing, we look forward to completing this work in service of Palestinian youth — especially after the devastating war on Gaza, where needs have multiplied and the war's effects have cast their shadow over every component of Palestinian society. This places upon us a doubled responsibility to work at full capacity through carefully designed programs across the phases of rescue, empowerment, and sustainability.

In closing: we promise that Tamkeen Foundation for Training & Development will remain a permanent tool for construction and a steady pivot for strengthening the capacities, capabilities, and skills of Palestinian youth.
